“Fatto-A-Mano for the Future” Design Exhibition

Hong Kong Stop: Traditional Italian Craftsmanship and Local Charm in Unison

Behind every luxurious handbag there is forevermore a soul behind it.
I was privileged to be invited by FENDI to experience the process of FENDI’s craftsmanships. .

A talented local independent leather designer Hoiming Fung has recreated the Hong Kong character with exquisite craftsmanship with Italian master craftsmen from FENDI. For the concept Hoiming was inspired from the traditional lion dance and folk cloth art tiger pillow which are both very iconic elements for Hong Kong culture.

RAWR!!!!

FENDI has been closely working with world leading design house Design Miami since 2008. The brand encourages and innovates cross- overs with different talented discipline designers.
In this exhibition you will find various designer pieces with creative concepts to achieve an inspiring combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation design.

We always like look at how polished the final product looks but I like exploring the raw materials first. As Elvia explained to me how FENDI picks the best of the best quality leathers for their handbags I got curious on the making of …..

Every punch hole and stich of FENDI’s handbags are handmade by professional craftsman. I was overjoyed for the hands on experience and to learn how to do special handstiching on FENDI’s Selleria leather

Taking a closer look at all the different tools that are used…
