Wedge sneakers are one of the trendy items I have spotted for past few season, but never had the urged to style it up. My gut feeling and experience tell me it looks more appealing on taller body figures, especially on long slim legs. But as I experimented these wedge sneakers, I found a few tricks that can work on petite figures too! If you look up on wedge sneakers outfits, you find more edgier looks. In this “how to style” post, I will share how to style wedge sneakers in a more sophisticated way.
LOOK 1: Black asymmetrical with textures
Depending on the color of your wedge sneakers, you can try a monotone to blend in everything together in harmony. This can be a great look for a day of smart casual meetings (depending on your job nature).
- Styling Tips: Add sophisticated brooch and colored lips for a feminine touch against black. Pay close attention to your lower body proportion, I would suggest a sheer or crochet lace skirt to lighten up the overall look. This will add dimension to your lower half portion without looking too heavy. It can also give an illusion of slimmer calves.
Look 2: Sweet and preppy denim
Leather jackets and leggings work great with wedge sneaker if you want to achieve an edgy look. But why not make these sneakers into a pretty sweet look with a hint of coolness to it? A mixture of sweet a sweater, 90’s denim and wedge sneaker can be your quick and easy look for your next Starbucks visit!
- Styling Tips: Pick a sweater in pastel color with some sort of sweet elements in it ( ribbons, prints, jewels..etc. ). Then simply wear your favorite pair of skinny jeans along with denim shirt. What’s most important about this look is how you wear your denim shirt. Open up the collars, roll up sleeves and unbutton last 2 buttons on denim without tucking your shirt in. By doing this styling, you will look less uptight with a preppy vibe.
