Dior SS2020: An Inclusive Garden

My first trip in 2020 was an escape to Dior’s SS20 presentation in Bangkok, where Dior brings nature and human closer together. The first impression when I walked in the modern venue was a down to earth statement of loving fashion and appreciation mother at the same time. While high ceiling of sunlight casting down into the opened space surround by real trees. Like in Paris’s  show, the trees will continue their journey after joining sustainability projects in Bangkok. With this collection Maria Grazia Chiuri pays tribute to the woman gardener, who observes and tends, thinks and acts. The key inspiration of the collection is Catheriene Dior aka Christian Dior’s sister. She was a keen gardener, a nature lover that took great care of the family garden. Still keeping the Dior’s “new look “ silhouette with clinch waist and full skirt that had nature motifs such as floral embroidery, raffia finishes, earthy tones and subtle washes of colour on delicate fabrics. To keep it a balance there was masculine tailoring and oversized silhouettes for an effortless touch.

Other than the exquisite embroiders, I thought this season the earthy tones made a big statement in the collection. My love for stripes, houndstooth, checkers had extended to earthy tones that can be styled together without looking too busy. Look 46 was a look I really wanted to try on since it’s the mixture of the earth tones with a this season’s on point hat accessories of straw hat.  Also the raffia update on the sell-out tote, as well as straw J’Adior Slingback is on my wish list.
